GRAPHIC ARTIST
Shipwreck Prints Available
An accomplished graphic artist, Valerie prepares the visual imagery to support her lectures, books, documentary films, museum exhibits. Shes applies her background in architectural design to the documentation of shipwreck sites, creating shipwreck site drawings.Valerie also commissions the work of artist Robert Doornbos who has depicted many of the newly discovered wreck sites through his artistic renderings.
Valerie's technique was developed out of her years in the architectural profession where recording the floor plans of existing buildings was necessary as the basis for developing remodeling plans. One of the first people in the Great Lakes to employ this relatively quick, yet accurate method to document an underwater site, Valerie has been invited to join several projects to utilize this recording method, including the video mosaic imaging on The Alva Bradley in Lake Michigan and on the Germania in Florida. In Lake Huron she joined an SOS team to teach fellow divers these survey methods on the wreck of the Jay Gould. Today many shipwreck divers utilize these methods to record the layout and details of wreck sites. Often the drawings help divers new to a site orient themselves to the wreck.
